So Photobucket has abandoned us. Is there a recommended new method for posting pics on the forum? For you guys who are site administrators - instructions that are simple enough that we can all understand and follow?

The best option right now is probably the Tapatalk App - create your post in the app and click the button to insert a pic and it uploads it for you. Who knows how long that will be around.
I think Yam was looking at one of the other pic hosting services recently - maybe he can share any insight he found

So Tapatalk requires you to create your post for this website within their application? Yeah, not seeing that work long term. How are other forums handling the Photobucket withdrawal? This has to affect many, many forums, - for many, many different subject areas nationally. Any insight into how other forums are addressing?

Yeah - sorry, forgot to clarify that Tapatalk is an app ok iPhone or Android. Not sure if there is a web-browser based version or not. I know a lot of folks like it, and perhaps it gets some eyeballs on ads so they can hang around financially - not sure
Not sure how other forums are dealing with it as of the moment - think a lot are still trying to regroup and figure out a path.
Heck - even Proboards is mostly based on an Ad model - you get them on the web browser but not in the mobile version of the site that many of use.... Proboards tries to generate some revenue by charging for image hosting, etc (which we don't have here).

My thought is this is a short term financial bump for photobucket, but ultimately a long term loss. I don't have any reason to continue using the Photbucket site. There will always be others lining up to fill the space they've just vacated. If they can't make it financially off advertising sales, some one will. The Internet is fickle, like many before them they have just become irrelevant

One final thought. I don't know how the ProBoards forum network is managed and "owned", but an opportunity resides with that entity. Frankly, the old way of having to use a third party hosting site (Photobucket) to upload and transition pictures to ProBoard sites is assinine It was always cumbersome for the user community, and a lost revenue opportunity from direct post for the ProBoards entity. its hard for me to understand the business model behind this - I probably don't understand the relationships.
But I'm pretty sure there's an opportunity missed here -

But I'm pretty sure there's an opportunity missed here - You can upload pictures to your posts, from your computer, by using the Proboards software. You do not need to use third party hosting. It looks like this feature is turned off at the present time on these SML forums.. Admin will need to turn this function on, for it to work.

Ghost - this is currently turned off as the space that comes along with the default forum has been consumed - I forget the specifics but we long ago used up the storage quota from folks doing direct postings of pics (they don't give you much free) - we would have to pay monthly for additional storage space to expand that. And to my knowledge the paid space is at a forum level - not something an individual user can pay for their own space.

There are still free hosting sites available, folks just need to do a search to find them.

I moved to imgur and wished I had done this from the beginning. Very simple, quick and efficient. Photobucket was always loaded with BS that took up your time and sanity.
