Does anyone have LED's in there rub rail for navigation lights? Do the conservation officers give you any trouble for using them? I have a removable pole bow light now but it is too short and doesn't clear my trolling motor. I would need a 12-14" one to clear but would rather not have that sticking up on my deck if I can get around it. Plus the LED's are much brighter and I feel safer. I am needing to mount an all around led on my t-top and want to switch to all LED. What are your thoughts?

Been "inspected" 5-6 times since I put em on and no issues so far. My opinion is make yourself as visible as possible without comprising the visibility of yourself and others. I mounted mine under the rail and pointing slightly down towards the water. This keeps the ambient light down to a minimum and does not hamper my ability to see objects on the water.

Good to know. I looked at this a year or two ago. Had the same question as Bushwacker, but then went onto another project. Seems like they'd be a lot better than the standard light with a trolling motor deployed.

A buddy of mine got pulled on buggs for having his LEDs on when underway. It was dusky dark when he was running. The CPO told him that the lights were not legal on the outside of the boat when running since it takes away from the red and green lights up front. To me you will be easier to see but that's what he was told.

Im running them on mine for the same reason bushwacker. I bought the led strips off ebay. I hadn't been bothered yet and I've been checked a couple times during the daylight though. I switched all my lights to leds. Much more visible and safer. Of course i don't run the blue lights while underway.

An extended 14" LED bow light is like $40 the LED strips in the run rail look much safer.
