I only had a limited time to fish so I stayed closer to the ramp than usual and turned into gills as the day was breaking. I quickly fished several brushpiles and docks before I found any fish willing to bite good. It was real hit or miss, with most spots not producing. I ended up with 16 good crappies, 3 white perch, 4 big bluegills, an 18" largemouth and 18" striper in a couple hours, all released. All were on jigs and small bucktails.
They key was finding docks, brush, and a steep shoreline/drop off all in close relation to each other. Even then, not all spots produced even though I was marking lots of fish. I'm not sure if they were schools of bluegill, small crappies, or white perch. They'd hit, I just couldn't hook them. If the right fish were present, they'd hit on the first couple casts. If not I was moving on.
