Talk about a frustrating day. I wasn't anticipating the wind, or else I'd have just gone to philpott and taken advantage of it. The trip started as a crappie trip? But with the wind and cold front, they weren't biting much and I couldn't feel them good anyhow so I scrapped that idea and caught some bait when I stumbled upon it around 8.
I headed out to the main channel below the bridge and set out a spread along the old river bed edge where a primary creek intersected the channel. I figured if fish were traveling north again, it'd be a good place to find them. And it was! Except they weren't really interested in eating. Most fish were marked around 40-60' down, and in some good groups too. I dangled money makers and mini makers in their faces for a couple hours without so much as one pull down. They'd come 20' up to look at the bait and chase it, baits were goin nuts, but they just wouldn't eat it. They chased my jigged fluke too, and never touched it.
So there you have it. The rarely accomplished total, biteless skunk. I've been skunked but it's a rare day when they don't even give you a good bite.
Wind was out of the EAST. You know what that means...
I didn't pay attention to the water temp.
I left when it started drizzling around 11 something.
On the crappies, I marked several good schools around deeper than usual docks, verified with the camera and still couldn't get bit. The jig had to be falling right through the middle of them. Not even the bluegills were pecking at it.
One of those mornings.
My Sunday was much the same. I went and pulled the bank where I caught a 30" and had two blow ups Saturday eve. With out so much as a bite. Then made my way over to a nearby creek and still couldn't get a hit. Just like you I could see some coming up to check my baits but would not hit them.
