I received a call Friday 4/28 that someone had stolen the motor off of my pontoon boat.I have a trailer near the S-Turns on the Franklin County side of the lake. We figured out the motor was taken within a week of 4/28. The pontoon was on a trailer on the property we have leased. The steering cables and fuel line had been cut and apparently when the thieves were removing the motor from the pontoon they busted the cowling as we found pieces of it on the ground with part of the Mercury 4 stroke decals on the pieces of plastic. The motor was a Mercury 4 stroke, 60 hp. Sheriff's office took a report and I am in the process of notifying all the marinas and anyone of can think of to be on the lookout for this motor. Who ever ends up with the motor with have to get steering cables and possibly fuel line and cowling, unless they just duct tape up the broken one. If anyone has information on this please shoot me a pm and I will get in touch with you. Don't you just hate a thief.

I am very sorry to hear about your stolen motor. When I was working the company purchased a new boat and motor. I went to use the boat after a couple of weeks and some one had stolen the battery. The boat was in a boat dock in Bull Run. I really dislike a thief.

Will give everyone that I know a heads up. See if you can post it on Facebook, that is an easy way to alert the community. I'll post the information on my account. I seriously believe that a thiefs right hand should be severed. Makes it harder for them to carry out the next theft.

We also have a trailer in what sounds like the same place so that really hits close to home. Will definitely keep an eye out for you

We are at the Homestead flinster55. Oh, I forgot to mention, the pontoon is the wife's pleasure boat. My skiff is safely tucked away in the garage at home. Got to have a sense of humor in the world these days

Cutting off the right hand is what they still do in some Muslim countries. Over there they eat with their right hand and wipe their butt with their left so after you lose your hand because you were caught stealing nobody will eat with you.....

This just sux. I'm sure you gave the SO the motor ID number - that oughta help prevent anyone from trying to fence it.
Cutting off a hand is too light for this. I have a few other ideas that'll send a stronger deterrence message. . .
