FYI - Smith Mountain Lake is expected to crest around 796.2' - over a foot above Full Pond level.
Check your boats in slips and any dock items. Also be on the look-out for floating debris that will be floating off the banks due to this high water.

From what I saw on the news last nite and on my drive into work this AM, the rivers in our region are screaming and muddy. I know Kerr will be a mess for the next week or more. SML is ~half that size. Can only imagine the mess 5-7" of rain will generate there.
Saw a report from Kerr on another site - fisherman was ejected from his boat after striking a floater. Turned out to be a huge oak log that was riding just below the water line. Fortunately he wasn't hurt.

That was the post on the Kerr pro boards site with one guy getting stitches on his face and the other going for a swim? Lucky that it wasn't worse that's for sure. I have bumped submerged objects in the past and luckily no injuries to boat or passengers but it very easily could have been worse. Everyone please be careful out there if you must go out.

Very lucky, I have seen some huge trees in the middle of channels down there after heavy rain.
