I've heard three media outlets asking all of America to pray for these families involved in the shootings this morning. Maybe if we hadn't removed prayer from schools in the first place we would see less of this.
My heart goes out to these families, I can't and don't want to even imagine. I will keep them in my prayers for sure.

With two kids in elementary / middle school and a wife that teaches in the same school, this has really weighed on me as well today... two classrooms of kids that had not even started their lives - just no words for it

With four kids, I couldn't imagine the heart break to know your child is shot an killed and the sorrow those parents are going thru...... Prayer going up for them all. Especially those kids who saw all that unfold will be terrified for life. Just shows how crazy some people are out there. One reason I always carry concealed!

Another terrible tragedy! What could happen in a young mans life to make him think that this is the kind of action he should take? I just don't under stand. Praying for us all.

I have 1 babygirl in school along with several nieces and nephews, along with an aunt and cousin that are teachers. It takes a pure COWARD to take out his own demented frustrations on innocent children and teachers. Ive also been sitting here watching the news channel and all they wanna talk about is gun laws. When will they understand no law will ever prevent this. Look at drug laws. Thats a real winner there. Maybe if a teacher had a concealed carry permit and would have been allowed to have it in their possession things like this would be less likely. One messed up world we are living in.

The fundamental problem is that we aren't able to face the fact that our approach to mental illness is horribly flawed. Our mental health "professionals" just give them drugs that make them semi-functional and then turn them loose on society. With this approach, the only way to prevent things like this would be to make the whole country as "safe" as a padded cell.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of these victims. I am having a real problem dealing with all the emotions; I'm heartbroken, confused, prayerful and at the same time mad as hell.
I believe that the biggest problem is that we have devalued human life. I was taught as a kid to value life. My dad would do everything in his power to miss that rabbit or turtle crossing the road. If by chance he couldn't avoid hitting it, you could see the sorrow in his face. We were taught to hunt but taught that if you shot it, you ate it.
If you look around today, we abort babies (both unborn and partially born). The kids are playing video games where they run over the old lady crossing the street, they drag the police officer out of his patrol car and beat him. Children today are exposed to a whole new way of thinking, the owl in California, the snail darter in where ever are all more sacred than human life.
People used to care about their friends, family, and neighbors, now they have been programmed to think that everything is about them.
I for one believe in gun control, I think you have an obligation to practice until you can control where your bullet will be placed. As family men the safety of our family rest on our shoulders, each of us should take whatever means necessary to insure their safety. I can assure you that if you're ever standing beside me when something like this takes place, there will be lead traveling in two directions.

Very disturbing. When I first heard about this yesterday it made me sick to my stomach. I too had a little buddy sitting in his kindergarten class at a elementary school at the time that this happened. My prayers go out to all involved.
I own many guns and believe in the 2nd ammendment.I am a member of the NRA. I was raised to respect guns and never to aim a gun at anything I did not plan to put on the table or anyone unless I fear for my life. I am raising my son the same way. Guns are not the problem. Millions and millions of americans are responsible gun owners. The USA has the largest Army in the world and that is its armed citizens.
I do not know how something like this could have been prevented. Maybe school officials need to be armed.Maybe if one of them was armed there would have been less casualties. If you notice things like this seem to always happen in gun free zones. Because the cowards know this ,they pick these spots.
Something was definately wrong with this young man and it did not just happen over night. I think alot of it boils down to parenting. Parents need to be more involved and aware when it comes to their kids. Let's face it, some parents just are not fit to be parents.
Again , my prayers are with all that are involved with this tragedy.

I am hoping that the press does not get hung up on gun control here. It is not the issue. The issue is mental health. Every time we have a tragedy like this the press focuses on the guns. But that means that the real problem never actually gets talked about and that is mental health. Our mental heath industry is so weakened by laws that emphasize personal privacy that it is all but impossible to keep this type of thing from taking place. Of course the press will only see the guns. Why yesterday there was a person in China that cut up twenty kids with a knife.
What is the real problem here? The gun? The knife? Or that these two people had mental issues that were not addressed by the mental health industry. By looking at the gun or the knife society will not think about the true problem and fix the problems we have with mental health.

With my wife being an elementry school teach and a young one at home I could not imagine the pain and suffereing those families and community are going through. They are in our prayers. The only way to have prevented this would be to have a total secure building but then again when there is a will there is a way. The secure building I work in has saved us a time or two. Gun laws are not the problem people are the problem. And I agree with what was said here, the Laws that are being put in place is only hurting the country.

I've responded 4 times to this thread and deleted them before hitting post. I'm not ashamed to admit I shed a tear when I saw this in the news.
Prayers sent......
