i want to thank all of the guys that post on here. I have been soaking in all of the useful information that all of you have been posting on here for the last couple of years. Some family friends of mine have a cabin near gills creek marina that I have been visiting for the the last 5 years or so and I am totally hooked on the stripers! My question is: Does anybody know if there's anywhere that rents boats that are set up with rod holders for trolling? I would love to get a boat of my own one day, but it's just not in the cards right now. I have been calling around to places and have found some places that rent fishing boats but none that have the rod holders that I need. If I can't rent one readily equipped, are there any suggestions for temporary rod holders that I could rig up and attach to like the rails of a pontoon that would not do any damage. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you talked with Parrot Cove? They used to have a small center console that may have had a few rod holders. Dewayne are Captain's Quarters has a small tracker fishing boat - I rented one of his way back and I don't remember specifics now but managed to get a way to run 4 rods I think.
When I first started and was in your situation I got four or so of the Scotty / Cabellas clamp on rod holders for pontoons (square rail) and used them on a rental pontoon boat rail. I also rigged a clamp on xducer mount thing for a portable Humminbird unit.
For rentals with round rail it might be a little more problematic to get ones that will securely attach without scratching the rail in the underside where the screw that tightens it to the rail goes. However if the boat has trolling rod holders then Scotty makes a gimbal adapter that will slide into the holder and you can attach the Cabelas or Scotty rod holders to that - would get you a few rod holders at least - and Scotty makes an adapter where you can put three rod holders onto on Scotty base so this could actually get you 6.
