Weight distribution on an outboard jet is important. It's why some builders put the fuel tank upfront.

Thanks man!! I like it. I am thinking about hanging some more HP's off the back of her. It will take a 90/65 jet. I would love the extra torque and hole shot.

Pete - you have a gift, dood. Really nice work. It's evident a ton of thought went into this - lots of smart things on your sled.
+1 on a lil more giddy-up on the back. Will enhance overall performance while reducing the load on your big motor.

Will enhance overall performance while reducing the load on your big motor. Thanks buddy, I really appreciate that. I have been working on boats and outboards for about 7 years now. Most of what I know is thanks to all the tools my good 'ol dad taught me to use, and left behind when he passed. His legacy lives on!! Now for motors, the 60/40 4 stroke seems to be a staple for outboard jet motors. There are plenty of 1648 all the way up to 1760 and even 1860's running them into the high 20's and maybe even low 30's. Before I removed the soaked foam, beat the floor straight, and removed the two really chunky UHMW strips down the strakes (which were overkill) I was getting 25.6mph on a lucky day. I am hoping, just hoping with my work I can touch 27-27.5 with just me on the boat. This boat has a lot of things chewing at that 40hp jet. .190 gauge bottom, .125 gauge sides, 1/8"UHMW plastic underneath, tunnel cut into it, and a lower torque 4 stroke motor. A 2 stroke 90/65jet only adds 30-40lbs. vs. this 4 stroke 60/40. A 90/65hp v4 99.6 cu. in. Evinrude Jet motor would be a SCREAMER on this rig!!!!!!!! Only weighs 307lbs. The block on here is 60cu. in.

Took her out for a run with a buddy of mine yesterday and she ran great!! Hopped right up on plane and wasn't cavitating at all. That suicide knob on the wheel really lets you yank her around. After taking the uhmw plastic off the strakes she skates on turns pretty good!! I'm going to have to learn how far I can push it!!
