Interesting. Be interested to see the quality of the components / guides. Priced under the current Ugly Stik pricing.

I was hoping Bass pro had them as I've got some gift cards but they don't have them yet - looks like Gander has them online - may be able to ship to store for free.

Lew's Mr. Striper Rods showed up today. All of my Ugly Stiks are at the lake so I don't have one here for a hand in hand comparison. I don't see ever having any issues with the stainless steel guides. I felt for roughness or burrs around both sides of each guide and they are very smooth. The reel seat appears to be on par with the Ugly Stik. I do like the grip. I think it's about perfect for this rod. The Lew's rod is a bit stiffer as you would expect with graphite vs fiberglass. Also lighter in the hand than the Ugly Stik. For the money it's an impressive rod. Overall construction seems very good to me. I am glad there is the alternative at the same price point as the Ugly Stik. Looking forward to trying it out.

Sound (and other than the white section), looks a lot like the UglyStik GX2 rods......
Looking forward to hearing about the getting some pigs to the boat!

Do you know if they come in solid white? Looking at the pictures, only the base is white. My night vision is shot and I strain to see my poles at nite.

I took Formula180's advice and took advantage of the Gander Mountain deal. They arrived late this week. The last thing I needed was another rod, but who can turn down a good deal on a new rod. My first impression is good but when I compare it to the Ugly-Stik I would say it has less backbone and the eyes are not nearly as strong. I tend to grab 3-4 rods in one hand to carry to/from the house to the boat. I think I will need to be a little more careful with the Lew's brand.

I also took advantage of this deal and grabbed 3 of these rods. I am happy with them but do not have an Ugly Stik to compare them to. Compared to my old rods these things have quite a bit more backbone.

Picked 1 up at Sportsmans Warehouse in Roanoke today since they didnt have any Uglystiks that i wanted. Hope it works out, looks nice for the price but also not much lost if it sucks either.
