I have a later 70's Johnson seahorse and I'm wondering how you adjust the idle speed? There's just a hole in the side of the engine and its labeled with arrows for idle speed "faster" and "slower" I looked all in the hole though I don't see how anything ever went in there, its just like a bar or something in there. Is the motor missing a part? Where do I get one and what does this part look like? If its something I can fashion out of a piece of metal that would be great

Google is your friend. I basically learned how to be a mechanic when I was in my 20s from Google. It's amazing what you can find. I still use it religiously. Takes time and research though. You also might wanna register over at The Hull Truth forum and ask your qtn there. Alot of your Google results will come from there as well. Bigger audience
