I miss the ole fart and have quite a few memories I will throw in here when time allows. I've shared a lot in the past so some will be do overs but I guess this is a fresh start.

Very nice tribute Shadslinger and very fitting. One of the comments I heard from several people at the M&G following your Dad's passing was that they had to do a double-take when you spoke because they swore Rockfish was in the room. I wish I had known your Dad better but all I had is the pleasure of drinking a beer or two with him one time and hearing MANY stories about him from a lot of different people. It is probably absurd to you that I still remember that 15-20 minutes I shared with him but I do. I also shared some banter with him (and Kat) back and forth on site and always enjoyed those interactions and his wisdom and sense of humor. He was a good man and to strive to be like him is a worthy goal. Many of us, myself included would be better people to live life like your father did.

I also never had a good chance to spend time with him person - guess I had a chance at the M&G a few years back - said a few words but didn't really get to talk with him - would have been nice to have done so more. Shows you that you should take every advantage you can get as you don't know when it will be our last. I did appreciate the way he kept everyone line the boards and more so when he would cut loose.
I had the honor of attending the celebration of his life after his passing - while I didn't know him in person, I felt I did from the boards and wanted to be there for others in support. I'm very glad I did - I will say that it had an impact on me that I'll carry with me forever. Shadslinger, you, your sister and Ms. Rockfish did just the right thing with that service.
Wish is right - we all could learn a few things about how to live our lives from how Rockfish lived his.

It's been six months today July 18th since Rockfish left us.The pain for me is unbearable, I miss him so much! It's hard to get on the board cause he loved it so..... all his fishing buddies and their warped sense of humor lol (Y'all know who u are!) I'd read things to him after he went blind and it always brought a smile to his face. He loved striper fishing, and was truly one of the best. We gained alot of family here and will always be grateful for your love & kindness shown to us thru the yrs...not just the bad ones. This man loved his family and was so proud of his children! Here's a slideshow I put together for his Celebration of Life Service....He never bragged on all of the fish he caught, many didn't know he had over 30 citations for Striped bass..But he would share his knowledge with anyone. You always got the first fish in his boat! He was truly one of a kind!

Sitting here bored tonight internet surfing and was looking at this and figured id share a couple things. Its been a year now and though its not much easier Im getting by.
He died on January 18th and while fishing on my birthday April 27th on what was a slow morning with a few small fish we hooked into what is now my biggest striper to date. It was 22 or so pounds and 37" long. I thought that was pretty awesome and consider it my bday present from him. Its the fish in my avatar picture.
While at my Mom's getting Christmas decorations out the building this year, she has this life size nativity scene which I didnt feel like pulling all that crap out so i just left all that in there. So when I had all the other stuff out she asked me what was left and I told her all that nativity stuff was in there but I didnt feel like fooling with it. She started laughing and I asked her what was so funny. Well apparently my Dad didnt wanna fool with it either cuz he had told her that he had threw all that stuff away..... ;D
