Thanks mward..I always see the water temps on the reports and I watch those closely, I've also looked at recent reports VS last year and the year before to try to get a better idea. But since no one says where they are on the lake it's hard for me to judge what's really happening on a year over year basis. They could be at the end of Gills one day and Lynville the next for all I know. It use to be BW warmed up a bit before RR, but I don't know if that's still true. I fish RR almost exclusively. Going back through my old journals (16yrs ago+) it seems like the temps were within a couple degrees year over year once you get past March, but there also used to be a lot of vegetation which I haven't found yet so things seemed to have changed somewhat. May sound funny, but "normal here out" is actually very helpful! thanks again

This website may be helpful. It's fairly new and I think he's looking at adding additional monitoring locations across the lake smlfishfinder.com

Another place I’ve checked over the years for water temperature at the bridge is www.smlweather.com - I am pretty sure their gauge is broken though as it shows a water temp of 42 which can’t be accurate. It should be in the low to mid 50s I would think at least and rising rapidly this weekend. Update: I see the issue - looks like it was last updated in February, so it must be out of service at the moment.
