The latest water temperatures readings can be found here: Facebook: www.facebook.com/SmithMountainStriperClub/notes Also on the Smith Mountain Striper Club's Website - www.smithmountainstriperclub.com/water-temps.html--------------------------------------------------- (updated for full year 2012 data, and created a "slow" version as requested)Thought this was cool - I pulled together the water temperature data that is collected by one of the guys in the Smith Mountain Striper Club (thanks Joel!) and turned the graphs that we generate into an animated GIF. Neat to see the progression up and down at the various depths across the year. Sloooowwwwww version

Can't slow it down - but I can generate a WVU version ;D. I'll try and pull one together soon.

Hmmm, I was thinking I saw something like that in a backroom movie once, but those little balls were vibrating. ;D ;D ;D That is good data though.

Would it be possible to post the individual months instead of the animated gif?
Thanks much!!!

If you are on Facebook you can go to the Smith Mountain Striper Club Facebook page and look in the "Notes" section and you'll find all the individual months.

Thanks for resurrecting this, time to start watching water temps for sure. Particularly the link to recent/current temperatures- that is handy to be able to monitor. Thanks

I haven't seen any info posted on water temps in a while. Is that now in another section? My real question is... How does the water temp this year compare to previous years? About the same? I need to take a week off sometime in April and trying to time it with water temps. I LOVE the night bite:) In the past (long time ago, it didn't matter much when I fished anytime after the 2nd week. I could find warm enough water. But with most of the lake staying so clear this year it doesn't seem to be warming up as fast as I remember. Bad memory?? thanks!

My reports in the Striper section always have water temps and clarity info.
We had a warm winter and it never got as cold as usual but then a colder than normal March when tempered the warmth. April will win out and I expect it to be "normal" here out
