I have a 798 HD SI. I like it a lot. Have had no problems at all, other than breaking a transducer bracket. I think that the Lowrance has better quality images. What swayed me to the 798 was that I was in bass pro looking at them and they had a pro bass fisherman doing a seminar. I asked him about the 2 products. He said that he used Lowrance and loved it, but that the humminbird SI was a more reliable product and gave less problems. The guys at bass pro agreed saying that they had more Lowrance come backs. With that being said I am thinking about eventually switching because you dont really hear much about people complaining about the Lowrance giving problems. Although the new I-pilot link is making me think a bit.

Thanks I just been trying to decide which one I can afford as well for a lowrance or the humminbird. But the Bass pro 6 months deal is reason looking at the 798 HD SI seems reasonably priced compared to lowrance for the SI really looks like alot of striper guys are using them to locate fish fast.
Thanks Rick

I have always had humminbird until I bought my ranger bass boat. I am planning on mounting the 997 on the bow.
