With over 6" of rain around I am wondering how quickly the lake can rise. Just checked my boat and raised it as high it can go unless I lower it and drop the sun awning support. Right now I have 3.5 feet from current water level to the bottom of the boat. If I drop the awning I could get another foot or so. Should I worry about it?

You're fine - go back and look at the historic lake levels on www.smithmountainlakelevel.com - I believe it's only been over 797 a few times - last back in Nov 2009 post hurricane / tropical storm if I remember. It's very rare for them to let it go over 795 outside of major water events up and downstream
