got on the water around 3pm yesterday, and fished till dark. I couldn't believe it. the stripers kept smacking the shad, tripping the planers, but I never got to hook up on any. another skunk at Leesville. the strange thing is , the shad didn't seem to be harmed ! maybe next time

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday on SML. I fished all day long from sunrise to sunset. The smacks, surfaces, pull backs and tail whips happened all day long. Finally I felt some weight when I swung the rod, but unfortunately it was a log. El Skunko for me as well.
Won't be long before they start eating with passion.
