I'd hate to light up this forum with a bunch of State jokes, don't tempt me... ;D
And to all who took part in starting it up again, it's greatly appreciated. There's a wealth of information all the members have to offer to us novices, it would have been a shame to see it go. Sites like these help the sport a lot

Whew! I'm back. Ran into some problems getting my account set up, was starting to think there was a redneck filter on the new site. By the way - to whomever can make it happen, I tried to get set up using a second alias Hilbilly (with one L in hill) that can be deleted now. Please don't delete the double L billy, that would be me. And thanks for getting us back on the air.

I'll let CatsNStripers and GuitarBo speak for the effectiveness of Drake over a school of stripers while we were jigging.......

Thanks to the people who made this Forum possible so we all have a place to hang out and tell stories about our fishing. I'm CorneliaGale from the other forum, I have been fishing SML since it backed up, yes I'm a old fart. I am a USCGAUX member, I put about 100 hours on the lake doing patrols each year, then I try to fish almost that much. As for the sand and saltwater I love it, try and get down at least once a year. I do USCGAUX vessel exams and UPV (sixpack) exams, and also if you have a question about navigation rules or equipment PM me and I will try and answer it.

Yellowdog here. Thanks for setting up the forum! Live in Greensboro, NC. Love to fish the saltwater with my son Jack. Been busy last few months so I missed whatever happened to the old forum, but thanks for the invite here. Looking forward to the fall on SML. Just one question, will Bigjon still buy the beer at the Meet n Greet?

Well, I don't really know what happened, only that it happened quick. I was on the other site at work Friday the 13th and Saturday it was gone and I was directed here. I too hate that all the old stuff that I was involved in has vanished. But let's move forward.
I have been around this evolving bunch for a long, long time. I reckon the only ones left that can remember just how far back is SS and Todd.
I used to post a lot of reports when I fished a lot. My health has got to the point I hardly fish at all. All my energy is focused on getting to and from work M-F and performing my job. I have to take a couple of weekdays off to be able to fish nowadays. And those are few and far between. It really sucks getting old.
My thanks to those that have devoted the time and effort to get this going again so I can live vicariously through those that get out and fish.

R37SML is glad to see the forum back. Starting to get the hang of striper fishing with the help of this forum, several trips with Todd, and gathering together all the required gear. Now we're having fun. I'm UNCLaxfan's old man, but don't hold that against him please. We're currently fishing from a blue Tahoe fish and ski, which isn't really set up for the fish part.

Hey y'all. I'm another refugee. I found the other site just about a year ago now and learn A LOT from it. I'm lucky enough to live on the lake and fish out of a 12 aluminum pos with only a TM for power. A good fish on will double my distance traveled just pulling. So if I'm out it is going to real close to home, near the yacht club sign, r27, r27a. Very strange what went down on that other place. I still don't know. Had to have something to do with interactions only a few people could be aware of. Very sorry that the historical posts are gone. All I want to know is: can we please start a thread where all we do is count by ones? Just to prove we can do it? Sarcasm isn't my worst trait, and that is scary. I'm a small time contractor and graduate of USC Columbia in Oceanography. I have one son, age 8. Glad to be here and see so many familiar people again.

Glad to see you all - I think I'm safe in saying that we see this as "our" forum, not any one person's forum. It is the contributions of everyone that make it what it is. The important thing is that we all remember that, and this forum and this group will live on - whether it is here or somewhere else over the years. Feel free to post up stuff that you may have posted in the past - losts of good info that folks have tucked away and we might as well re-capture it. Maybe having a "clean slate" will result in some renewed discussion on old topics previously hashed out, some new discussion and input from the newer folks, or new techniques, or whatever.

I too am bummed about all the info and memories that were lost, all just out of spite. Years of useful info archived there for anyone who is just beginning. Still a little peeved about it. I hope we have lots of newbies with lots of questions, and I'm sure we will.
For me, I just as soon not mention that place and move on. Maybe a new beginning is what we need and a good thing.
I wonder if we can talk Todd into coming back, if not full time maybe a guest appearance now and then. Heck with the 30 day or deleted crap.
Out of respect, in my mind, he's still as big of a part of this as he ever was. I think we should still have a rockfish lounge. If we can't call it that because of the other place, how bout Rockfish's Front Porch, come on in sit down and lets rock awhile, or something.

Bigun that means alot. My Dad loved that site. when he was unable to see we would have to read to him the stuff that was going on and it would give him something to laugh about. I too would like to see the Rockfish Lodge back again and dont really care about the other site as he didnt seem to care about "OUR" opinions either. You have no idea how ticked I am about all my Dads posts being gone now without even the chance to save them. But it is what it is and this place is our way of moving on. So many people here mean so much to us and I am honored to call yall friends through these forums. Sorry..just needed to vent alittle and get some things off the old chest. Thanks again to all of you
