Got to lake around 8 p.m. friday to catch bait loaded bait tank up with about 2 dozen dollar bill gizzards and few alwives and 3 mongos. Put boat on charge for an early morning. Left out of slip around 515 a.m. with my oldest daughter harleigh. Road down lake a few mins and picked a starting point out. Water temp 78.4 and a cool beautiful morning. Set 6 free line boards and 2 floats with 2 light lines as well with a mix of baits. First strike was at 545 a.m. miss number 1. Second came on a float and my daughter grabed it and reeled in a decent 27 inch fish. On ice he went. Now it was my turn again and boom missed again. After that we turned back around and headed back again. Had 3 more strikes but no hook ups and then the middle board went down missed again as reeling it in the inside board took off wide open i grabed it and set the hook fish pulled back hard got 2 cranks on it and snap goes the line. Im telling everone it was 50 pounds haha. Got picked on by my daughter for all the misses. Ate lunch and headed to the check in. A big thanks to the members of smith mountain striper club for the food and gifts and all that they did. Harleighs fish got her second in the youth division. PROUD DAD . She was tickled pink and still is talking about the fish that she caught when dad couldnt. What a great day on water and couldnt think of a better way to spend my Saturday.
