I am looking at some new electronics and was looking at the Simrad Go7. Was wondering if anyone has a Simrad Go and if so what they think about it. I presently have a Gen 1 Hds 5 and it has been giving me some problems and I have been wanting to go to downscan and side scan.

I am looking at some new electronics and was looking at the Simrad Go7. Was wondering if anyone has a Simrad Go and if so what they think about it. I presently have a Gen 1 Hds 5 and it has been giving me some problems and I have been wanting to go to downscan and side scan. I have heard a lot of good things about this unit over at thehulltruth.com in the marine electronics forum. If I remember correctly the only downside is you can't network with the normal yellow ethernet cable that Navico uses, but can network with nmea2000 to your hds 5 with limited functions. I would like to hear some opinions from some more freshwater guys though. After reading some more on this unit seems to be the same as the elite 7ti. Just some minor differences, most say the touchscreen is better on the Simrad. The Lowrance can integrate with a motorguide trolling moter where the Simrad will not.

When you say it seems to be same as the Elite 7ti do you mean it has all the same features or is it literally the same as being made by the same mfg and sold under a different name? Thank You for the info and your response! I will look at thehulltruth.com Come to think of it, it has about the same price as the Elite 7ti

Simrad and Lowrance are sister companies under the Navico umbrella. Over the last few years they are sharing more and more core platforms in the products - with things tailored to their primary market. Simrad is more offshore / salt focused with Lowrance more freshwater / bass focused. Leads to some different features in each line
