This past Saturday was similar to my 5/10 report. Loaded up with alewives on Friday night got to the dam at daybreak. For the first time in along while I was there and they were actually pumping back. Used the 2 down lines, 2 free lines and 2 planer boards. Got close to the center of the log boom and started catching them. Did not get 4 on at once, but the action was constant and the fish were hungry and sporting. I quit fishing at 6:30am as I caught 11 and got tired of throwing them back not being sure of their survival. Tore my hands up trying to release them while they were still in the water. All fish were between 24 & 28". Prepared to fish on Sunday but it was way too windy. Smartly went back to bed. Gusts were up to 30mph.

Wow, what a difference a half hour makes. I got there at 7 and 6 other boats there. Fished about an hour and a half there and only caught 1, didn't see the other boats get any. Moved up lake a little into the main channel and there were lots of fish there....
Sounds like you had a very busy morning......

Looks like Saturday is 100% chance of rain. Supposed to be a washout in Richmond with enough rain to put us over the top for the rainiest May of all time and there will still be 10 days left in May.

Everyone who has fished for years, usually after driving 1,2,3 or 5 hours to fish, has been told at one time or another....... you should have been here an hour ago, or yesterday, they were tearing it up. So I agree, when it comes to striper fishing, timing is everything.

I agree. Sometimes I take it for granted that I am lucky to have a place at the lake.
