This is by far the best bait tank I've come up with for keeping bait overnight or even a couple days off the dock. Start with a large plastic trash can, snap locking top, and drill lots of large holes in the sides, lid, and bottom Next weight the bottom so that it will sink. I found the best option to be a center mounted, 2.5 lb weight plate. I simply fastened it to the bottom by drilling holes and using large plastic ties. Make sure it is centered so the can will sink and and balance on the bottom upright

Finally, run water durable cord through drilled holes in the lid to lower and raise the tank in/out of the water. I used nylon. Also make sure to thread it so that the cords can be pulled tight to lock down the lid, using the handles as lift leverage points.

What specific hole pattern have you found to work the best?

Only an NC State technically trained person would ask that question I think when I drilled the holes, it was a Miller High Life pattern

Now, I was sitting here trying to decide it it was via a Full Choke or Improved Modified.... Pretty sure it was via buckshot but it not able to tell which size - 00? I mean come on - I've got enough learnin' that I know no self-respecting West Virginia HillyBilly is going to use a drill for such a task.....

Looks like some sort of scientifically calculated random pattern of some sort. I'm pretty sure it's not the punkin ball system. Hillbillies usually shoot better groups then that.

Hey Hillbilly, here's a WV baittank whereas you can drink the residue when you're done. That's what my granddaddy told the Gmen when they caught him with it.

All kidding aside - thanks for posting this Hillbilly - should avoid the issues of most critters chewing through.
Are you keeping larger gizzards or just ales / small gizzards in this?

bait for humans Striperjohn. That looks to be a heck of a cooling coil setup
Mward - I've been able to keep both ales and shad successfully in the tank. From peanut size to mongos. with peanut shad, there are usually a few that die overnight, but everything else does fine. I know it's not Bass Pro pretty - but it works.
