At what degree do you guys cut your styrofoam when making planner boards. I made two with 45 degree angle but they do not seem to get to side of boat enough. Seem to work pretty good otherwise.

A great deal of the pull from your planers is related to the placement and length of the line release rod as well as how much floatation you have. If your boards are riding too low in the water you need more foam. If nosing down in the front, which creates drag then move the rod back. The angle of the cut on the foam makes little difference in all the tests I have done with mine. Is your foam attached on the realease rod side of the board or on both sides? They work best if foam is on the rod side. Regular stryofoam without coating will absorb water and thus be very heavy. I use Envirotex lite. Pm me and I can give you more info. Do you have pics?
