The team Lawrence report:
Primetime and I headed out for bait about 8pm on Friday. It took a while but we loaded his tank with 38 big gizzards. We arrived back at the dock at a little after midnight split the bait between the two of us and threw on our dock light to get a few ales just in case. I took out the propane cooker and fried us up some bologna for a midnight snack then it was off to the truck for a few hours rest.
look how good that water looks thanks to mwards tank filters!!
Dad and Matt arrived at the dock at a little after 6 ready to go. We headed to our target spot and had lines in at 6:35. Most all day we pulled 3 boards bank side 1 board creek side and one float. Sometimes we would add some weight to the inside board and float to get the bait a little deeper. 20 min or so into the first pull our outside board went down. We landed that one a nice 35" 21lb fatty.
As we were fighting that fish to the boat the wind hit and so did the snow. From that point on the weather pretty much stunk. About an hour or so later we were able to land anothe fish a 31 incher that we were tickled to see so we would have 2 to check in. As we were taking pics of that one another planer went down I grabbed the rod and set the hook on a nice fish. She was heavy and boiling the water bigtime and then she was gone.
2 thumbs up for fishing Striper Mafia Tournaments!!
After that things slowed way down. We fished for several hours without a bite but finally had another one go down and landed an upgrade a 33.5 inch 17lb fish.
We fished hard the rest of the day landing one more fish a 31 incher at almost time to leave. Headed to the check in at a little after 3pm cold and wind burned from this fine April day.
All things considered we had a great day. Came home in 2nd place for the tournament and second place for the season. But best of all I was able to fish the entire series with my Dad and 2 of my sons. I fove to fish but fishing with family is special.
Matthew won the youth division and gave his fishing rod prize to Carson (seajays son) who absolutly deserved it after braving the conditions of all 4 tournaments. That was Matthews idea and I couldn't be prouder of him. I hope Carson lands a monster with it!
Congratulations to team squidhound on a dominating year! Wow you guys did an amazing job.
Also A special thanks goes out to Primetime We couldn't have did nearly as well with out your help. Harley is a great fisherman with many big fish in his future! Watch out for him next season boys he will be a contender.
Thanks again to the Striper Mafia for putting on a great series in a ton of bad weather all year. I'm already looking forward to the fall.
It was great to get to meet a bunch of you guys at the check in. You guys are all hard core to fight that wind and snow all day. Good Job!!
