Got down to my slip about 430ish this afternoon and was planning to go get some bait for tomorrow. Threw out a few dead shad from my dock tank and went to lower the boat..looked down and saw mud being turned up under my boat by what looked like a flathead. On second look, I saw stripes! It was a toad. I was so shocked I just sat there and watched for a second. Then I grabbed my phone and got a couple pictures because I knew nobody would believe me otherwise. I saw this fish probably 22-25lbs inhale dead moneymakers like they were nothing in clear water. It was awesome and I have no doubt that fish could swallow a 20" bait no problem the way it ate these 8-9" baits. Then all the sudden another came in..a lil smaller but still nice. I finally got my wits about me a lil bit and grabbed a rod outta the shed with a fluke..dropped it in there quietly and the lil one came over and swiped at it once then inhaled it. I set the hook and it flipped out then screamed out under the dock wrapping me around my water pipe. I was lucky and got it free and somehow worked this fish back under my boat after a couple minutes, getting it untangled twice on pilings then grabbed my landing net off the boat..layed flat on my belly on the dock and could just barely reach the fish to net it. Thanks AEP! Pulled it up and measured it on my boat ruler..36"! My docks been known to produce a few good fish, but that was the coolest by far! I'm dumping more dead shad from now on! In fact, if they're all alive, I'm going to kill some and throw them out there!!
Stud!
Long n skinny but not for long the way they were eating!
