First time posting on here love reading yall guys post feel like I'm in the boat with you, anyways here it goes, Drove up Friday night with 2 friends they had never striper fished stayed at harbor inn got up at 330 on the water by 430 was wanting to spend a couple hours learning to catch bait on the lake since its my second time fishing the lake caught 20 small gizzards in one throw about 25' deep I had braught 30 6-9 inch gizzards with me from home started fishing around 6 put 2 planers out the front I was putting the 2nd channel planner out had it about 2' from the boat and ones almost pulled the rod from my hand so I set the hook and handoff the rod we netted that fish in the dark, got the rest of the rods out and started pullin, let me just say its hard pulling boards in the dark had a few close calls with some orange balls, 10 mins later our freeline starts screaming go to pick up the rod and nothings there few mins later middle planner starts going in reverse set the hook fish no 2 in the boat! after that we missed one on a board then it HAPPENED, I heard clicker screamin planer rods bent over were fighting that fish and I see my balloon take off under the water, while were doubled up a huge school emerges all around the boat, birds were diving, it was incredible got those two in by then the school had went back down! You could almost see their hearts pounding through their jackets! After we got all the lines back out from all that termoil we pulled by another point and the bank board go hit fish no 5 in the boat and its only 8:00! Fished about an hour with a couple misses and a middle channel board gets nailed get that fish in its our biggest yet 34''! Put that board back out and we have another hit and its a good one I tighten my drag down and its still taking line it made abt a 100 yd run and its tail came up and I new right then that's the one we were after it started running sideways and came running back towards the boat and the hook just came out I was sick! we moved outta that creek and fished a couple more with two bites and no fish so we came back and faught the wind put our lines back out and tried to start pulling was doing fine till a huge gust of wind came and spun the boat in a complete circle we had two lines in the prop of the big motor finally got those lines out after cutting one, retied that line started putting it back out an noticed the board had been hooked backwards wind it in grabbed the line to fix it and line started going through my fingers set the hook on no 7! Finished the day with 12 bites and 7 fish boated! Great day on the water was very blessed and thankfull!
