I have a 40 gallon G&M bait tank i want to secure in front of the cc of boat. In front of the cc is a seat that i need to cut out for the tank to sit on the floor.
Any suggestions on securing to the floor of the boat? Any suggestions on cutting the seat out where the tank will sit on the floor.
Thanks, Harley

Primetime, I'd make sure that the forward seat is not recessed into the deck before I started to cut. As far as securing to the deck, you can p/u a small piece of polyethelene 12"x12"x1/2" for under 20 bucks and cut 4 brackets to fit the outline of your tank and screw them to the deck. Or, you can cut a rubber mat to fit and set it on the mat.

I recommend the mat option. They have the perfect mats at Lowes. Mat Link

I removed my front seat to make room for a bait tank.. It worked out really well for me.. I guess I got lucky.. Here is a link with pics: smlfishingforums.proboards.com/thread/20/fishon-2010-sea-hunt-xp19 I think Brian on this forum did the same thing and ran into some major problems.. I am not 100% sure how it all worked out for him..

Fishon, do have a number and name for the person who did your fiberglass work. It looks really good. Do you have your tank secured to the floor.
Thanks gator and yam

No, I don't have it secured.. When it is loaded up with water it is pretty darn heavy and doesn't ever seem to move at all... Even when it is empty it doesn't move much but, my boat is pretty heavy for a small boat and I am not really getting around very fast at all..
I will PM you my cell number and give you the contact info on fiberglass guy... I will warn you it was like pulling teeth to get the guy to work on my boat. I also had to end up paying him more money than we agreed on before he finish the job.. Plus, I noticed mid Job after he cut the seat off that it wasn't close to squared off straight... However, he did fix it and at the end of day he did a good job so, it all worked out well, in the end.. Plus, I think his price was very fair...

I want to cut the seat off that the tank sits on. Then, I want to cover the hole that will be there. I want to cover the hole myself do to the fact that I like doing things myself and its a hobby for me. I also know it may be more wise and cost effective to pay someone else. Fishon gave me the number of someone and Im not ready to call until I determine whether I think I can cover the hole myself. Also, I need suggestions to secure the tank to the floor. Not so much so it doesn't slide but so that it cannot be stolen. Here is a pic. Thanks.

Does anything go up into that area under the console - need to know what's there first - i.e. fuel-tank, wiring or hose access, etc?

Primetime, you know darn good and well that a thief will figure out how to "unsecure" your tank. Heck they'll work harder at stealing it than they would earning a honest living!!!

You could even cut that seat so that it cradles the tank... and if you did that could even leave a flip up seat there!

Primetime, Cut that seat off already.. It will be stressful at first but, you will be happy after the job is done... It is a striper boat and when it comes to a striper fishing boat it is all about floor space..
