Jason and I launched out of grimes creek about 2pm. I was excited to get back on the water after hibernating for a couple of months. Since Friday, all thats been on my mind is fish and where are they.
After launching we went searching for bait. We had several in the bait cage from a week ago. After catching dollar bills and mongos we had a couple hours to pull pb's
We caught a total of 5. 3 were in the slot which were released. I remember weighing 2 of them at 15 & 16 pounds. Dont remember the weight of the other in the slot. Also, one was caught at night casting with a deep diver which was under the slot to find the cooler.
Fri - 4pbs with no weight @ 1.0 mph
Bait - dollars and mongos
WT - 56-57
Water was clear in the channel
After pulling boards we had to catch more bait for the Saturday birthday party. We stayed out until 11pm catching shad and casting for stripers. While catching bait, Jason said we have become bait snobs! I laughed! We wanted big MONGOS! We had enough dollars and started throwing them back looking for big bait. Jason seemed reluctant to throw the money makers back but had to in order to have enough room in the tank for the big ones.
Here are the pics from Friday
Matt, Jasons son had a choice, to go to Pigeon Forge with his sports team or have a fishing trip with friends for his birthday. Guess what the son of a fisherman chose? Thats rite! Birthday party on the lake with his friends! Moma packed plenty of food too. We had brownies, chocolate, pudding, nutty bars, vienna weiners, corn chips, cookies and drinks.
We took off about 630 am with a bait tank full shad and 3 excited boys ready to catch fish. We went back to the same place we went the day before where we had good action. We fished a creek, and the banks of the main channel. Matt and his friends each caught a striper and had a blast on bait duty. We missed a total of five. One that was caught, ate the shad head first. We pulled 4 pb's, and a redi rig without any weight. WT was 56-60, with a slight wind in the afternoon and overcast.
By the pics you can see why Matt chose to go fishing. Man, what a great time we had! Happy birthday Matt! I know your Dad is proud to call you son!
