Well had to fish on what I knew and thought was the pattern today. Arrived last night and upon my first step on the the boat I realized I had left both fish finders in Staunton. Ugh!!! All I had was the 4" finder that came with the boat, not much help. Friday I was piddling with the boat and doing a little dock fishing waiting too see if bait would show at light? Was winding a lure back in and saw ales swimming right at the surface. Grabbed a net at soon had about 2 dozen ales. Good thing didn't find much next morning with no FF. Did manage a few big gizzards on some flips. Fished sunrise to 4pm. Mostly Betty's Creek. First fish was a 29" pig, the next 4 fish got smaller during the day. 4 fish were caught on ales with planers, 2 in 8 FOW or less. Other fish was caught on a swimbait off a point. They wanted nothing to do with the 13" gizzards. WT varied a lot 52-59 AT 59-65 Tried the U-rigs but got hung twice pretty fast, again no FF not a good idea. Great to be on the water!!!
