Got bait Friday afternoon. Wasted about 2 hours in the first creek we tried. Marked scattered bait couldn't seem to connect. Moved to a different area and was able to make about two dozen ranging from Mongos to peanuts before the sun set. Tried the light about 9 no bait. The water is so muddy at my dock I think it's just taking them a long time to find it. Went out at 4am and it was loaded. Caught hundreds was able to keep about a dozen medium sized ales.
Was on the water by 7. Ran into Lund and got to meet Gator and Lund2. Put out boards, light lines, and a couple of downs. Pulling Mongos and dollar bills on the boards smaller baits on the light line and downs. Had some nervous Mongos on most points never got chased up to the surface. Pulled everything and moved. No action at the second spot. Moved again. Started pulling banks in another creek. Was swinging over to the other side bank and had a mongo get slammed. Bait never even got nervous fish just nailed it with no warning. My brother picked up the rod and the fish was gone. Ran over a few schools of bait that had to be 100 yards long. Threw on one producing a few dozen dollar bills. Came in for lunch and picked up my son. Pulled one of the same creeks we had pulled in the morning hoping it would turn on. Not really much difference. Had one of the smaller baits get chased up. Fish actually knocked it up out the water but never took it. Called it a day.
Sunday morning put out the same spread. Ran into cohesion who was fishing the same area. Had a little more action. Got some Mongos swirled up, then finally had one who was ready to eat. After knocking the bait around for a while board shot back. Set the hook. Finally had one on. Pulled the hook very quickly. I was only using 5/0 hooks. They seemed plenty big until you stick it into a Mongos nose. Eventually thing died down and we called it a weekend around lunch. Stopped by Gander Mountain on the way home and picked up some 8/0 hooks. We'll give them a try next weekend.
