I've never been one to let the weather dictate my fishing time so I headed out Saturday morning. AT was 18 and WT was 42 -44 and light breeze that steadily picked up. Went on a search for a good school of fish at 7 a.m. I never found a big school of fish but I did find some scattered fish that were all holding in 40-70 fow. Wind started to pick up and it was cold!! Decided to move up lake to find some calm water. I liked to have froze during the ride. Caught one small fish about 23" or so. Shortly after I get a text that birds were workin in the vicinity of Halesford bridge. I was at Gills. No way in hell was I making that ride. I fished until 9 without a bite and called it. At least I kept the skunk out of the boat. Looks like I'll be able to wear shorts next weekend. 60 degrees!!

Gator - there's Florida cold, the kind where you wear long pants on the boat...and then there's real cold....where any exposed skin burns, eyes water, then freeze....the kind of cold that makes you envy the guy in the pontoon boat with the big curtained cockpit, looking like he's in his sitting room at home as he drives by.

Gator my friend, one of these days your wife's going to look at you when you say you're going fishing in crappy weather and say "just make sure you keep those life insurance policies paid up"! Nice one lund1! LOL. I recall the first time I saw that same "big" guy going by me up near Beaverdam, we were sweeping ice off the boat so we could stand on the front deck to get bait and he cruises by drinking coffee, steaming out of the cup!

Nice report Gator.
I must be getting old, bc when I was younger I was only focused on finding and catching fish regardless of whatever weather they could throw at me. Nowadays, I have no desire to be out there in that - maybe it's just that I'm smarter! Ha

I got tired of breaking ice out of the rod eyes, sinus infection, watering eyes, cold hands and feet. So I don't do that extreme cold weather fishing any more. I would reconsider with an enclosed pontoon and warm female though.

Love the effort -- who knows what can be caught out there in that weather till you get out there and do it!!
