Got over to the lake Saturday decided to jig and cast since I didn't have any bait. Fished for about 3 hours. Jigged one up 19". Missed another jigging and one casting. Hoped for better luck the next day with live bait.
Made bait over night, small to medium ales. Hit the water at dawn. It was cold. Deck was frozen over from making bait. Birds were working the entire stretch right in front of my house so I didn't have to run. Put out down lines and a light line out the back. Marked scattered fish all through the stretch but no luck. Marked fish in my baits all morning but they weren't interested. Finally about 11 I picked up a 19". Fished until noon and came in for lunch. Was going to head out again but the wind was howling. Took a nap instead. Wind died down so I went out about 4. Started marking scattered fish at the mouth of a creek. Put out my lines moving up river. Picked up 2 less than 20" pretty quick. Again lots of fish on my bait few takers. Decided to double back on the stretch. Mistake didn't mark another fish. In at dark.
Made more bait last night. Much better bait probably have about 3 dozen 8"-9" ales. Although the fish didn't seem to be all that in to bigger or smaller baits Sunday.
Going out Monday and Tuesday hopefully the bite will turn on.
