My dad always talks about when he was younger going fishing with his dad and some of his dads freinds deep sea fishing. I dont think they were way out from the way he talks. My question is does anyone on here have a recommendation of a charter. Not picky on location as long as its less then an 8 hour drive from sml. Not after a certain type of fish either just a great day out with my dad and brother doing somthing that he used to do. Would like it to be just us on the boat, besides captian and first mate. Thanks in advance.

I've always heard good things about the Winner Queen out of Carolina Beach, NC. A bunch of my buddies go on it a couple times a year and always have good things to say. www.winnerboats.com/fishing

I used to go out every summer out of Calabash, NC on a black bass head-boat trip when we were down at Holden Beach. Simple bottom fishing with squid, and over the years the size got smaller with less keepers. Occasionally a sand shark to make things interesting. Several boats go out of there but we liked the Hurricane Fishing Fleet. "Cheap" as in the $100 range per person at the time for a 1/2 day trip.....
If you can catch it on a "slow" day when the boat is not fully packed it can be fun - it the boat is full it can be shoulder to shoulder, line-tangling frustration.

Take a look at Breakday Charters, he's out of Moorehead City NC He does inshore, tidal marsh and I think some offshore fishing. I used to work with Justin here in VA he retired early moved to NC and started his charter business, every mans dream.

Lots of good boats out of Carolina. My advice is to look around on the internet at several different captains and call them all. I've had the oppurtunity to fish all over the world and have had great captains and awful ones too. And just because they have a pretty boat doesn't mean they can fish and mosy expensive doens't mean anything either. I've fished with several out of Morehead City and they put us on fish. Be sure to tell them what you want to do as well. I mean you don't want to spend 800 bucks to catch a bunch of spanish mackeral.
