The wife went to visit her mother in Michigan so I had a three day weekend on the lake. I’m in Gills Creek so I primarily fish the Blackwater side. I was in Gills two weeks ago and marked a lot of fish in the upper end but this weekend they were not to be found. I checked up around the cliffs and couldn’t mark anything. Went up near B31 – B35 and still nothing. Went all the way up to B42–B49 and found a few scattered fish but no takers. On Sunday afternoon I went over to Bull Run and marked a lot of scattered fish way in the back. I was fishing larger shad and had several pulls and blow ups on the planner boards but no hook ups. Went back Monday morning with some alewives and caught two that went about 28 in. I was out all day each day and not a lot to show and I didn’t see a lot of other boats which maybe should have told me something. I know most folks live up the Roanoke side which gets more reports on this board but does anyone know why the fishing seems to be tougher on the Blackwater side, or is it just me?
