Friday had off of work and borrowed a trailer and pulled pontoon out of water to rig a new graph and some other wiring that i been putting off. Got done with that and backed boat back in water and back in slip she went was to windy for me haha. Went to my dads house and my brother and i wired up some things on his boat. Kept looking outside at the wind and my daughter (12 years old) kept asking me to go fishing, first time shes been interested in striper fishing, shes more my hunting and cat fishing buddy. So i knew i had 2 mongos left from a week before in the cage and we hit water at 4 p.m. with only an hour of daylight left i fig we would hit a place close by that has been good to us. Pulled within 100 yards and seen there was somone else there with same idea. Turned boat around and decided to troll other side of channel, within 10 mins after setting 2 planners on bank side outside board goes under i jumped for the pole and handed it to my daughter (Harleigh) and the fight was on. Took her everything she had to hold rod up. It hit me then that shes only 80 pounds and skinny as the pole lol. She was having the time of her life and so was i. Im sure the boat that was in the spot that i was goin to thought i was nuts bc i was jumping up and down and coaching her the whole fight. At 29 inches and 8 pounds what a great first fish. I will try to figure out how to post pics bc trust me i took plenty of pics. What a proud moment for me. I think i added a new member to the NightKrawler team bc shes hooked.

Kb, cherish those moments. Years ago on Santee Cooper I had my son (then 10, now 40 years old) connected to the front of my Renken bowrider with four straps to keep him from falling out of the boat as we were "running and gunning" surfacing schools of 20lbers. He caught his first striper that way and is as addicted to catching them today as anyone I know. Great report and story. Cheers, John
