I was fortunate enough to receive a couple of gift cards for the holidays and one of the things I would like to have on the boat is a good set of fish grips with a scale built in.
I have heard the Boga grips are fantastic but they are soooo much more $$$ than the other brands I am a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on them when some of the others would seem to do the same job.
I know I don't want any of the less expensive stuff with the digital scale.
But other than those the price ranges on these seem to go from $15-$20 to $115-$120 with nothing really in between. Is there really a $100 worth of additional quality/functionality in the Bogas? Or am I just shopping in the wrong places?

I have an old set of Berkley Bogo grip knockoffs that I occasionally check against a postal scale. They are dead nuts on.
As long as you are not using them for anything that needs certified scales, I recommend buying a cheap bogo knockoff and just check/calibrate them against a scale that you know is accurate.

I also have the Berkley's, same as Brian. I have used them for three years and I don't even remember changing the battery. As Brian said, I have checked them several times and found them to be very accurate. Just make sure they are setup correctly and ready to go. A few times mine have been set to metric and I have to fumble around with them longer than I would like. It does take a second or two for them to zero. I bought mine at BPS for $50. I think they are $60 now.

You are 100% right about the digital scale. Stay away from them. I'm also looking for a set. What do most people use the 0-15 or 0-30 pounds?
