Hello guys, just wanted to introduce myself and thank all of you for the very useful information that's contained all over the site for a student Fisherman such as myself. I'm from the Gordonsville area, about two and a half hours away, I'm staying at a cabin at the State Park and will be here until Saturday. This is my third time here and I gotta say I just love it. I'm traveling with my 24 foot pontoon boat that is equipped with a gen 3 seven-inch, & a motor guide XI5. I also have my home built 75 gallon tank for ale wives and if I'm lucky enough any gizzard shad and I might scoop up. I came through this last June and was able to catch about four striper each day for a three day stretch. I caught them around the campground on planer boards and the largest weighed seven and a half pounds, which was great for me. I'm still fine tuning my bait tank but it seems to work pretty well. I would like to possibly post some pictures about it for somebody who's interested in building their own and maybe that should go in another section of this forum. I built it out of a special material called kerdiboard which is used in the tile industry. It's a one and a half inch thick extruded styrofoam that has a waterproof membrane on both sides which give it structural support. Anyways, thanks for the info and I will be reporting in anything of importance during my stay, JT

Welcome aboard jt, I am also a student fisherman and am very thankful for this site. I don't need a bait tank but would love to see your pics of the one you made. I did make one when i first started bait fishing this year but ended up buying one. Have fun this week and catch a pile of fish! Harley

Hi JT - welcome aboard. I would love to see pics of your baittank. there is a forum section for LiveBait equipment if you want to post there. I have built my own tank based on the "stripersoup" bait tank but am thinking of going a bit larger than my current 25 gallon set up. My surrent set up works and filters very well....just on the smaller side and my material does not insulate so will probably not be that great when the temps start to increase.
