When I was a young man my dad took the family on several vacations to the Eastern Shore/ Wachapreague. We fishing for flounder mostly .... caught a ton very often two at a time. I think it used to be called the flounder capital, if memory serves correct. We always had a great time. So lately I have been watching some you tube videos of striper fishing pulling eels on planer boards. I have thought I might like to give it a try in the future. I know from some of your posts that several folks go yearly. Could anyone suggest a guide out of Cape Charles? Thanks for any help.

Check out the TidalFish forum - there is a VA section with a lot of discussion about the eastern shore. A few guides post there - and there are a couple that do "Hop On" trips - mixed party trips were you pay for yourself and go with others - vs chartering the whole boat....

Drag4striper , I love wachapreague. A buddy turned me on to it about 20 years ago and I have made a trip or two there almost every year since. The flounder fishing is not quite as good as it used to be though. My wife and I plan to take our son on his first flounder trip there this coming spring. As for eeling stripers in the bay , I started towing down there and fishing out of kiptopeke and Cape Charles the winter of 2006 and have been back every winter. I would suggest calling Chris at Chris's Bait & Tackle on the eastern shore and ask her for the names and numbers of a few good guides and then go from there. Not all of them will be pulling boards but they will be drifting. It would be a great way for you to learn the areas and general info. Her website is. chrisbait.com

Thanks for the info Seajay. You are right about Wachapreague back in the mid 70's that place was great. Even though I was a young I knew it was a special place. We would hook up with great numbers and some of those door mat flounder every once in a while. What fun, your son will always remember the trips you take him on. I know I sure remember the good times my family had.

Hey drag4striper, in Oct 2015 the striper club conducted a meeting with a seminar on striper fishing in the bay. Dewayne Lamb presented the seminar. It was AWESOME! He taught us everything. The only thing Dewayne didn't do was put us in the boat and hand us a road with a fish on it. It was all about pb fishing. The good news is, Mike video'd it. Also, more good news, Dewayne is a guide at the bay. He is here now and will be all month. You can look on his fb page for contact info. His name is Dewayne Lamb, notice how to spell his name. Sorry if I caused you more work Mike. Did I mention to tell you the seminar was AWESOME! Gotta go catch a striper. I will report later.

Apparently the number on FB is no longer any good and the store voicemail is full.
Would really appreciate it if someone could provide Dewaynes phone number.
