Fished Sunday with Bentrod, GuitarBo and a couple of his buddies/relatives. Went out Saturday afternoon for a little boat ride with the family and loaded up the tank with some pretty money-maker gizzards - crazy easy at the moment - had 50+ in the tank in fairly short order. Sunday AM started off with a very cold, damp, bone-chilling fog..... total white-out - worst I've been in on the lake before - usually there are at least patches of open area - not this morning. Made for a slower ride than I was hoping. Fished gizzards on boards behind freelines & light-lines, and a couple of floats WAY back. Did have a few downlines out as well but they never saw any action. Was a slow start - had a few boils / blow-ups that did not hook-up. But we finally got Bo's cousin-in-law that was down from Atlanta on his 1st striper - went about 14 lbs One of Bo's buddies Caught 4 on the morning from 8-14 lbs. Seemed like the action was just about to turn on good when we had to call it to get Bo and crew back to their wives that were waiting at the Mexican joint at Indian, as well as get me back to my own crew....

Thanks again for the trip!
I didn't have any crew to get back to so I just went to Wendys! I probably could have gone to Jetski girl but she was probably upset with me after I passed on her 2am "come see me" offer.

Glad to see yall have some good luck and get some nice folks on thier first stripers. I was out myself sunday morning but didnt have nothing to report about. No bait at the lights and could not find a descent gizzard for the life of me. I checked standiford, magnum, poplar creek and coves in between to no avail. Still was nice to be out on the water for a change.... ;D

That's why I skipped fishing on Sat AM, went out Sat PM to catch bait when they were flipping and then fished Sunday AM - don't always have that luxury and is the part that makes fall fishing tough when you have a compressed schedule. Though I think it may also mean sleeping in a little late then catching bait and fish the mid-day / afternoon/evening..... and then you don't have to deal with the fog....

Shadslinger I went sat pm and had the same problem w bait. Was late for the light. One throw had 200 peanuts. Guy on a big boat give me two dozen 6-8" shad, said he found them in the very back. Didn't try being I had bait already. thanks to that guy huh! Only had two pulls in the magnum area! Lost both at the boat. Going to try again this weekend hopefully, and venture up creek a little. Yeah my skunk!! . When ya have that one person that you wonna put on a good fish, and get the skunk sucks. The person that got me started fishing. Somebody that hasn't been fishing in 7-8 years. Was a very disappointing day trying to get my grandfather on a fish. It was also my birthday. Was a very special day spent with a very special person!

Gotcha - my guess is your Granddad didn't mind the skunk at all if he got to spend the day with his grandson doing something you both enjoyed Happy late Birthday!

Thanks I'm just glad to get him off the couch! Last 6-7 years that's all he has done since he retired. Sure hope I can get him some fishing therapy, and get his mind half way right again! And hope I can get him back into what he intended to do once he retired! He bought the bayliner in 98. Quit fishing in 04, and retired in 06-07! Them 100$ a day trips on the bayliner are no fun. Especially not catching! I see why he quit! Maybe I can put him on a fish next time out, and not just pulled hooks! That is if there is a next time, because we are not promised tomorrow! Very thankful for you guys sharing your knowledge for the last couple of years!
