After reading all the great reports that you guys have wrote from the tournament got me pumped up to hit the water. I unloaded the boat at 7:30 am A/T was 49, W/T was 58 and windy. I had a rough morning....because I had to pull my net up with the boat. I was lucky that I got it back I know. The net is torn up really bad so no more trying for mongos. It weights heavy on the mind when you only have one net. So unless I fish artificial baits I am done for a while. I tried to make the best of it with some peanuts. I pulled four light planers, two light floats and one down line. I marked plenty of fish, but it was in the afternoon before my first fish. A nice fat 32 incher hit one of the floats and gave me a good fight and was released after a pic. So I turned the boat around and made another pass and picked up a 28 incher on the inside bank board. Another boat came through and picked up another slot fish and he was upset because he had gut hooked it and it died. What a waste, you could tell he felt bad. It happens what can you do? So my trip was not a total loss with two fish in the boat using peanuts. I was able to keep the skunk off anyway.

The water was still stained at Hardy with leaves and wood floating, but strong winds had blown a lot of it towards the edges especially in the open areas.

I'm sure the wind is way worse today compared to the 11th. It did lay down some in the afternoon Wed. But it kept trying to turn the boat around while I was dragging bait. Was a PITA !

Drag, what exactly is wrong with your net? Is it completely destroyed? If it is mostly intact, it can be fixed. Do you have a picture? Maybe I can help you? I can show you how to tie braille lines and sew the mesh.

Yam, to tell you the truth after I got it up I just throw it in the wash tub. I have yet to spread the net out and look at it. I did see that about half the braille lines broken and no net attached to about 5 ft. of the lead line. Possible a panel gone. I was going to call Mr. Wade after I looked at it. Just haven't done it yet.
After I check it out I may PM you with more info. Going to be out of town until Sat. evening.

Hmmm. 5 feet is a lot. In those areas where the net is not attached to the lead lines, I am guessing the braille lines are not attached as well. The typical scenario is that the net gets hung. We pull it lose once the braille line knot gives. And the mesh in that general vicinity is damaged. The fix is simply retie the braille line with a double loop uni knot and then sew the mesh. I have gotten quite good at doing this through trial and error and OCD. But 5 feet sounds like a bear.

I will know more once I check it out. Sometimes when I get pissed about things going wrong I don't see clearly for a while. LOL

If really torn up,and its broken loose along the leadline a quick and easy fix is is to use 3 or 4 inch tie wraps every inch or two and one on ether side of the weight to reattach to the lead line.It may snag once in a while but will work for a backup net or quick on the water fix, trim real close. If it not to bad hand tieing is the way to go.They never throw the same anyway.

Get small round head tie wraps if you can find them, good snowed in project.Even if you only use it to throw around docks and stumpy areas it might save another net.
