Talked to someone at AEP today and she claims that the low water is do to below average inflows and she sent me some charts that show just that, especially on the Roanoke side. She said the low water wasn't related to the ramp work. It seems like its rained a decent bit lately..you would think enough to raise it up a little bit. Guess we need to pray for tons of rain because AEP is not keeping it down on purpose.

I cross the river every day and its been flowing a lot better this year than years past, was looking at the website the other day when it had be raining for a day or so and the lake was droping, bet they are trying to keep the ditch full so they can pump it back and fourth like they usually do.

Dang - I hope not Maybe AEP is tired of folks calling about it.... Must be a problem with the data feed to the guy that maintains that site/graph. The AEP site shows it a 791.15 - www.aep.com/environmental/recreation/hydro/

Ahh - looks like www.smithmountainlakelevel.com is working again - its reading 791.15.... all is well. Maybe if we all went and pee'd in the lake we could get it back up??? Just saying.... ;D

Ya, back to normal now. The "canyon" in the graph magically dissapeared. At one point it said it was falling at 11.10 feet/hr , then about an hour later it said rising at 11.15 ft/hr, haha. Even the AEP site was showing 780.00 30 minutes ago.

If the lake is dropping at 11 ft/hr we've got a BIG problem - or more likely a BIG hole in the dam ;D

Yep. The State Park ramp is gonna be useless if it drops any more. Could BARELY get the Tracker in today. Had to do some pushing... Not a big fan of that random 6-8 inch drop yesterday.

Yes the City of Roanoke does take out some water, but remember they put most of it back, with the wells and springs they use too most likely they put back at least 90% of what they take out.

Does anyone know when the water was this low in the past? I have been bringing up lots of tree branches lately.......tired of that.
