6 foot tall 36 inch diameter bait cage
Cost: a little under $90
I probably could have made it $20 cheaper but I would have had to drive farther and go to a couple different stores, anytime I go anywhere it takes me 40 minutes to get to town
I bought all my materials from lowes
Materials: About 200 zip ties - 8 inch, i could have bought them at harbor freight a lot cheaper, not sure the quality though
1/2in x 1/2in, 3ft tall x 25ft long cage wire
1/2 in or larger black tubing, 30 feet long, I bought a 100 foot roll, maybe found this cheaper and not in a 100 foot roll
3 - 1/2 coupling
handful of 1 1/2 wood screws
latch
2 small hinges
2in x 3in board or 2x2 will probably work
2ft x 2 ft plywood
2 noodles
The circumference for a 36 inch diameter is 9.4 ft
cut 2 pieces of the cage wire at 10 feet in length
cut 1 piece of the cage wire at 3 feet in length
cut 1 piece of the cage wire at 18 inches
cut 3 pieces of black tubing at 9ft 6in
attach coupling to join the tubes making three separate tubes
take 10 feet of cage wire and wrap around tube, the tube will be at the bottom of the cage wire, the cage wire will overlap, use zip ties to tie tube to cage wire
follow above procedure with second piece of cage wire and tube with zip ties
take 3rd tube and place in the middle of both pieces of cage wire overlapping and using zip tie
take 3 feet of cage wire and place on bottom of bait cage tie with zip ties, trim excess wire
take 36 in 2 x 3 board and attach to top of bait cage in the middle
take 1 piece of cage wire and zip tie half of the top of bait cage
turn bait cage over and place the top on the plywood
trace outside of tube on plywood, use jig saw to cut out lid
attach hinges to lid and 3 x 6 board
attach a clasp to secure lid when closed
Hawk at Captains Quarters said after I saw his I could do it with my eyes closed. I laughed and thought you don't know me well. Guess what, I did It!
I have 2 shad in here now!
