Had the week off and planned to fish a few days. It rained the entire day on Tuesday.
Water temperature - low 60s.
Technique - Dollar Bill to Mongos on 3-6 Planers
After messing with my boat a few hours on Tuesday morning and hoping the weather would clear, I finally said screw it and went hunting for bait. Catching decent bait was no easy task on Tuesday. Not only was it a miserable day, I spent 3 hours catching ten thousand peanuts. During a small break in the weather I finally saw some flips that seemed to be of a little better quality. Two tosses and I was able to sort through a few full nets collecting a couple dozen nice gizzards. I fished until dark, hat only two pull downs, several boils and ended up catching one small fish about 23 inches.
Started Wednesday with a little different plan. The rain continued through most of the morning before giving way to clearer skies. I tried to work a little further up the Roanoke but from Beaverdam and up, it was just a mess. I bet there was 1000 plastic bottles floating along with tires, furniture and enough logs to do some damage if you weren't really careful. With the leaves, sticks and logs, fishing the creeks was almost impossible. I fished until 5 pm and managed only one fish just shy of 30 inches. I spent the last hour of the day catching bait. It was totally different than Tuesday. I threw a half dozen times and kept about 30 baits that ranged from 8-12 inches.
