I am looking at getting a couple of new Striper ugly sticks. Don't know if I want the 7' MH or the 7' ML. I fish off of a kayak and pull a couple of redi-rig floats with live shad and also fish live shad down with 2oz weights. Wanted opinions on which action is better for live bait for Striper. Thanks

Sorry, I'm not able to help with your question. But, I just ordered a med hev 7' striper rod for 39.99 online at Gander Mtn. Shipping is free for orders over $25. There is not a extra shipping cost due to the packaging like it is at bp. I ordered mine on Wed and will be here on Sat. It's coming straight from Shakespeare.

For planers and light lines guy want a MH. For down rods, ideally a ML but maybe in the 7-6 vs the 7' to get a bit more backbone but still the light tip
One thing I found out today. The new Ugly Stik Striper rods have a gimbal butt. It is "just" to big to fit into a QuickDraw. Going to have to break out the knife and trim it down a bit.....

Thanks for the replies. Mward, so do you think for my application a MH would be fine? I'm just wondering if there is a better hook up ratio from one to the other.

If you're going to have just one, I'd go with the MH if you plan to pull boards or lightweights and not just downlines from the yak. I'm starting not to trust the MH when not on "dink" schools..... not sure how being down low in a kayak affects it, but I'd think you'd want the backbone.
