Water Temp - 77
Weather - Clear in the morning becoming overcast by mid-day
Bait - Bait was more than tough for me - Tossed at my dock until 11:30 and then hit it again this morning - NOTHING. I tried a few other lights close by and found the same result. Thanks to SeaJay and his Buddy Chris, they saved my morning with a ton of the nicest ales I've seen.
Technique - Downlines with medium to very large ales.
This morning started quite a bit different than yesterday. Since I didn't have any ales I decided hit hit a few lights. There were very few dock or house lights to help navigate to the main channel. As I was easing out of my creek I almost hit a Jet ski that was floating in the middle of the cove. The first dock I hit had two others on the light already. As I approached the second light and was preparing my net, the light goes out. At first I was ticked as I thought someone turned the light out on me but then I looked at my watch and it was 5:30. Other than that dock light, there were no other lights on for the entire property. I am just going to think it was on a timer, however, if someone did turn the light off intentionally then I suppose it's better than some of the other confrontations I have read that some of you have written about.
On Saturday fish were pretty easy, they were schooled up and easy to find. This morning could not have been any different. After scouting for more than an hour we did get a call with the location of where some fish had been located. We were close and joined the group of boats, we marked a few but had no takers. On the hunt again, I didn't wet a line for nearly three hours. We had three boats looking everywhere and we just couldn't find fish. At 10 o'clock we got a call about a few fish further down lake and we headed to join in. Again, things were slim pickins but we hung in there until almost noon. I caught two very nice largemouths, one 5 pounds 8 ounces and another 6 pounds 3 ounces. I caught three stripers, two that were very small and one that was the second largest I have caught, 36.5 inches and 15 pounds.
Just when you think the day is a bust, you get rewarded for your perseverance. I had a great time during the past two days, and again, I want to say a big thanks to SeaJay and his friend Chris. They sure are a great couple of guys to network with out on the lake.
