It's fully official. Help share the word. We have some great sponsors lined up, and still have some cool things cooking behind the scenes. While this is a "series", you don't have to fish all of them to benefit (though we'd certainly love you to fish as many as possible) - right now all the prizes & cash flow out at each individual tourney.... www.SMLStriperMafiawww.facebook.com/StriperMafiaUPDATE - We will also have a "15 & Under" Youth division - with trophies for 1st - 3rd, and a nice prize for the 1st place youth. Youth will fish with their adult teams (that is they are part of the Team max of 4).

Just for clarification - the entry fee is $75 per team - per tournament - NOT a one-time for the full series.... same with the optional Big Fish pot. Also, you don't have to be able to fish all the events to participate, or fish with the same team each time - it is a per-tourney thing, so fish 1, 2, 3 or all!

To make it as easy as possible for those that may be fishing on other parts of the lake during the tournaments, we will hold two Captain's Meetings. One will be held sometime Friday evening (likely 9 or 9:30, but we'll confirm later), and the other before "Lines In" that morning. At the Friday evening meeting we would provide measuring devices and a token card - but you will have to add the Tournament Token # to the card the morning of once announced - just before "Lines In" - this code will be provided via the Striper Mafia Facebook page and also via Text Msg - either way you'll need to be able to get cell signal if you don't want to make it to the morning Captain's meeting. For those coming to the morning meeting - it will be early enough that you can check in, get registered and your stuff and then get to where you want to be by lines-in time.... I know which way most of you will probably be headed that morning Hopefully this will help those fishing from the Blackwater side of the lake or who's boats are located on the upper or lower lake - also removes some of the need for lots of pre-dawn travel on the water (or the roads for that matter) - all our safety in mind. The goal with these are to be as inclusive and as fair as possible to all.

We made a tweak to the Youth division - changed it to age 15 and under - aligns to the VA Resident fishing license rules (VA resident youth under 16 do not require a license) - note for non-residents, non-resident youth must be accompanied by a licensed person, and youth 12 and over are required to have their own license.

Mike, just read your post on the youth division. there is a slight chance my son Jack might fish with me in the Nov 7th tournament. he is 13. does he need a VA license? We are non-resident.

The Striper Mafia Tournament Kickoff week is upon us - the 1st event is this Saturday, 11/7. We currently have 26 teams pre-registered and I know several others still contemplating jumping in - assuming all teams pre-registered make it to fish, 1st place will be taking home over $1000. Plaques / Trophies are in place, tournament banner is in hand, prizes are in hand or on the way for just-in-time delivery. Everything is shaping up for a great tournament - the bite has been good and picking up the last few weeks - the forecast is calling some warm this week and then maybe a chance of showers - nothing wrong with some overcast or showers to bring on the striper bite. Final rules & release form will be posted on the web-site tonight. Looking forward to seeing everyone that's pre-registered and there others are still welcome to come and participate - we'd appreciate it if you would pre-register just so we know to be looking for you and it will help speed the process - but you can also just come to either the Friday PM (9:30p) or the Saturday am (4:45am) Captain's Meetings to register as well. www.smlstripermafia.com/registration.html

Yellowdog - sorry i missed your post - we must have posted at almost the same time. Yep - I called DGIF the other week to ask about this as it was not totally clear to me as a non-resident as well. While resident youth don't need a license until 16, non-resident youth over 12 do......

It seems Santa Claus stopped by the house early this year - but it was actually all our amazing sponsors. Below is a pic of all the great prizes that will be given out at the Striper Mafia Fall Classic this Saturday, 11/7. Still time to sign up - Captain's meetings will be 9:30pm on Fri and 4:45am on Saturday. www.smlstripermafia.com/tournament-series.html
