Can anyone recommend a good landing net? The old one my dad has is starting to rot and I'm sure there are better ones out there. What minimum size do you recommend?
Thanks in advance!

For the health of the fish I strongly recommend the rubber net ones (I am definitely NOT talking about the pvc or "rubber" coated nylon knot nets)...... Tyler can suggest the one get got - I believe from Gander Mtn - I thkn Yam has a very similar one as well. I have a Frabil that is OK - a bit on the small side for the larger fish and the hoop is a little weak - don't think I'd buy that one again but it would probably work for a lot of folks...

I got my rubber net by Ranger at Sportsmans Warehouse. I think Yam has a similar version by Ranger. It's the best rubber net I've found - most are dinky. Only pic I can find...

I bought the one that Tyler suggested. It is a Ranger 34x30. I couldn't find one without the telescoping feature so I had to modify it because it was, as Tyler stated, too heavy. It does a great job but is still too heavy and hard to handle alone. It also leaves deep gauges in your gelcoat if you drag in a fish rather than lift it with the handle pointing up to the sky. All of these negative features are a result of it being rock solid. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D44HHW8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1442058315&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=Ranger+Nets&dpPl=1&dpID=4106QAwOMfL&ref=plSrchI would rather have a lighter material though and have found nets to be a pain. I think I am going to use bogas from here on out. Not sure though. Might lose more fish and I'm not sure about fish health. A net sucks for a fish but having to tire it out more to grab it with bogas might be worse? Not sure. I've gone netless all summer but I have yet to catch a big boy without a net.

Thanks for the help. We usually don't use a net but I would like to have one on board just in case we do catch a big one.

I'd rather lose them than put them in a net. Just my opinion.

You just want to use a lasso on a fish. That tailer works great on tuna and wahoo with a T handle for a tail, but I don't see how it would help at all with a bass, the tail would slip right through it. Maybe I'm missing something.
