The SML State Park is hosting an event on August 15 from 2-6pm to increase fly-fishing awareness in the area. The event will include practice casting, fly tying, fishing from the shore and a couple free canoe trips for those who sign up. Orvis and Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing will be represented - and perhaps the Striper Club if we can work out logistics to have someone staff the event.

There is no fee for participating in the Fly Fishing Expo, only the $5 parking fee applies. For more information, call the Smith Mountain Lake State Park office at (540) 297-6066
