Mating 2 - Lowrance Chirp 7's together

Just bought a Navionics card and have been told you can mate the 2 units together so they both can use the one card. Has anyone done this or is it a fairy tale? I emailed Lowrance but I am looking for instant gratification!

What units? They added this with a software update - V2.0 for the HDS Gen2 - but not sure of this only works with Gen2 units and later or not

It has the mini SD slot. Adding the Navionics card is the same as buying it as a Elite 7x Chirp Gold. I was cheap and didnt get the gold version but now realize it was worth the upgrade.

I am pretty sure the Elite units do not have any networking capability - perhaps other than some very basic NEMA support.

The HDS units can be networked together to share info and connect to other modules as a system where the Elite's are stand-alone units.
