Yeah - $999 for the new StructureScan 3D, and then at least $1500 for an HDS 7 Gen3 (or $2100ish for a 9, and $3200 or so for a 12)... However, I will say if the product lives up to the initial demos, it certainly makes visualizing what SS is showing you so much easier....... and you'll know the depth and distance of the fish from the boat - not just the distance....... My StructureScan (LSS-1) did this tonight........ looks like my port-side part of the xducer went bad..... going to have to dig into it tomorrow.... If you see me turning circles every so often, I'm just clearing the baffles" and trying to get full view from one side.....

Flyrod - then you're good to go - the 3D StructureScan is an add-on box that will of work with the Lowrance Gen3 units as I understand (or the Simrad equivalents) Just another $999 or so......

The fish are setting up a committee to have these outlawed! They are also protesting for more weed beds and no more carp.

When you mention clearing baffles are you talking about cleaning the transducer from trash? You might have mentioned this in another post, Im not sure.

Clearing the baffles is a submarine term. Subs used to make a 65 to 80 degree turn port or stbd to clear the baffle that exists behind the boat due to prop noise. Hes got one side of his sidescan down thus hes moving to look at that side. Lol. Fyi subs now have a towed array to eliminate that baffle.

Whats up with the little white speckles on your screen? That is RFI for sure.
Also, the Simrad NSE series will be compatible with the SS 3D. I wasnt too excited when I saw this to be honest with you. Guess we will have to see some real test runs on the water.
Just like I like LSS-1 vs. LSS-2.

Pete - yes.... I'm getting some Big motor interference since I hooked up my Aux charging cable from the big motor to the house battery. It goes away when the big motor is off... one of these days I'll get around to dealing with that.....
Primetime - I had to replace the SS xducer..... no obvious external damage, but one 1/2 died....

Mward did you end up putting an lss2 on there or did you locate a used lss1? If you don't want that old ducer id be glad to find a use for it. I have been doing experiments with Humminbird and lowrance ss ducers and can always use parts.

I was able to find an deal I could not refuse on an LSS-1 xducer to replace the defective one with. I'm honestly not sure what I did with the broken one... if I did not throw it away and I can put my hands on it, you're welcome to it - but I may have tossed it.

I have my house batteries isolated from my cranking/charging battery And just charge as needed and never run short on juice. Also don't have any interference on my sonar. What's the advantage? Other than a small charge.

Could have used it to do a redneck "spotlight scan" install on the trolling motor
